Dubai has approved the AED 2 billion' Therme Dubai' project, a groundbreaking wellness resort set to open in 2028. The 100-metre tail resort will feature wellness, leisure, and healthcare facilities, including the world's most extensive indoor botanical garden in Zabeel Park. Designed with sustainability in mind, it aims to boost Dubai's medical tourism sector and position the city as a global wellness hub.
Dubai has greenlit the development of the Therme Dubai project, a landmark wellness resort and interactive park set to be the first of its kind in the Middle East.
The project, to be situated in Zabeel Park, is a collaboration between the Dubai administration and Therme Group, an international leader in wellness infrastructure.
With an estimated cost of AED 2 billion, the resort is expected to be completed by 2028.
The project aligns with the UAE Year of the Community and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, emphasising enhancing quality of life and fostering healthy, sustainable communities. Once operational, Therme Dubai will stand 100 metres tall, span 500,000 square feet and accommodate up to 1.7 million travellers annually.
Therme Dubai will integrate wellness, luxury, and healthcare facilities, providing a range of facilities designed to cater to diverse audiences.
The resort consists of-
- Three 18-metre waterfalls and expansive indoor and outdoor pools.
- A Play Zone won 15 water slides and family-friendly activities.
- A Reserve Zone featuring thermal pools, steam rooms, and mineral-enhanced treatments.
- A Restore Zone focused on rejuvenation with saunas and innovative mineral baths inspired by global bathing traditions.
- The resort will also house the world's most extensive indoor botanical garden featuring over 200 plant species and will serve as a cultural hub with immersive art installations worldwide.
Sustainability and economic impact
Sustainability is a core focus of the project. Advanced technologies will recycle 90 percent of the water used in thermal pools, while 80 percent of the resort's fresh air and cooling needs will be met through clean energy sources. The development is expected to strengthen Dubai's medical tourism sector and attract foreign direct investment to contribute to the city's economic diversification goals. Therme Dubai is part of Dubai's broader strategy to position itself as a global leader in wellness tourism.
The project aims to enhance the city's appeal to residents and international visitors by combining therapeutic facilities, family entertainment, and sustainable design. As construction progresses, the project is foreseen to generate prominent economic activity and create new opportunities in the wellness and tourism sectors. Upon completion, Therme Dubai is expected to set a new standard for integrated wellness destinations worldwide.
