Exciting Activities Await- Spelling Bee, Puppet Storytelling, and Book Drive at Saadiyat Island's 7-Day Event.
People in Abu Dhabi can enjoy the current breezy weather by participating in a free reading programme on Saadiyat Island. The programme, coinciding with the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024, will run from today until Thursday, May 9, at Mamsha Al Saadiyat.
Organised by Miral, a key creator of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, the seven-day reading programme is open to all ages. It doesn't require any prior registration.
Titled 'Miral's Reading Experience,' the programme features a book signing event during the first two days with Alfai Al Marzooqi, a six-year-old Emirati author holding a Guinness World Records title as the youngest female author to publish a book.
There will also be a book donation drive that will ensure everyone who loves reading can access books while promoting sustainable practices.
Taghrid Al-Saeed, Miral's executive director of group communications and destination marketing, stated that the initiative aims to foster an inclusive community culture through literature, aligning with Miral's commitment to the educational pillar of its CSR strategy.
Immersive literary workshops
The programme will also offer various immersive workshops in English and Arabic, covering storytelling, writing, art, calligraphy, Arabic name-writing, and a sustainable slime workshop for children by Alfai Al Marzooqi's four-year-old brother, Hamad Al Marzooqi, who is also a chef and entrepreneur.
Visitors can participate in hangman and connect the dots games in both languages and a traditional 'carrom' tabletop board game. Other activities include spelling bee contests in English and Arabic, storytelling with puppets, and a local tales reading, Al Khararif.
The group's social media platform has more details about Miral's Reading Experience schedule.
