Travellers have to visit Etihad.com and click the 'Get In Touch' section of the Help page
Etihad Airways, the UAE's national carrier, has launched an automated online chat feature that guides customs through a series of questions and lists the visa, ticket and travel documents they require, along with any other requirements. This new feature ensures travellers have the latest information on the documents they require before travel. To access the system, the passengers have to visit etihad.com and click on the 'Get in Touch' section of the Help page.
They can then choose the Travel Guidelines and Transit information in the charts menu option.
John Wright Etihads, Chief Operations and Guest Officer said, "We know how important it is for our guests to feel assured that they have the right documents for their journey ahead of travel". "This online feature is fed automatically by the latest information supplied by IATAS's Timatic Solution, which provides real-time information on travel document requirements for international air travel, relied on by the travel industry and government authorities worldwide."
According to the carrier, the introduction of the automated feature relieves the need for guests to spend so much time scouring the internet or contacting customer service centres to confirm their travel documentation requirements. IATA's Senior Vice President of Products and Services, Frederic Leger, said, "Helping guests prepare for their journey is crucial for a smooth travel experience and regulatory compliance.
"Etihad's initiative to provide visa information via chatbot opens a further channel for passengers to check their travel requirements and supports the automation of the travel experience. IATA is proud to enable and assist this great initiative through its new Timatic Auto Check."
