RTA's Major Project Includes Construction of 3 Bridges Spanning 3.1km, Among its Largest Undertakings.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announces that work on the Al Shindagha Corridor improvement project is nearly half complete, a project expected to significantly reduce travel time in one of the city's busiest areas.
The project, estimated to serve about one million people, aims to reduce travel time from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. With a budget of Dh5.3 billion ($1.44 billion), it is designed to address urban growth needs along the corridor.
Stretching 4.8km along Sheikh Rashid Road, from the intersection with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Interchange on Al Mina Road, the project includes the construction of three bridges spanning a total of 3.1km. These bridges can accommodate 19,400 vehicles per hour across all lanes.
RTA Chairman Mattar Al Tayer described the project as one of the largest currently being implemented by the RTA, spanning 13 km along Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street. It aims to facilitate traffic movement, enhance capacity, and improve traffic safety, benefiting areas such as Deira and Bur Dubai, Dubai Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Mina Rashid.
The project aims to construct three bridges.
Mr Al Tayer clearly stated how all three bridges will be constructed with their specifics:
The first bridge, part of Phase 4, is 1,335 meters long with three lanes in each direction, connecting Sheikh Rashid and the Falcon Intersection. It has a capacity of 10,800 vehicles per hour in both directions.
The second bridge is 780 meters long with three lanes, serving traffic from the Falcon Intersection to Al Wasl Road. It has a capacity of 5,400 vehicles per hour.
The third bridge is two-lane, 985 meters long, serving traffic from Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street toward the Falcon Intersection. It has a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour.
