The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) invited the 2,000,000th Indian tourist to Suvarnabhumi Airport on 16 December 2024, celebrating a significant milestone in bilateral tourism.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand marked a significant achievement on 16 December 2024 with the arrival of the 2,000,000th Indian tourist at Suvarnabhumi Airport. This milestone highlights India's critical role as a key source market for Thailand's tourism sector. The grand welcome ceremony featured prominent figures, including Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports H.E Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing Asia and the South Pacific and officials from Suvarnabhumi Airport and Thai Airways International.
Passengers arriving on THAI flight TG324 from Delhi were greeted with traditional Thai garlands, symbolising the nation's famed hospitality. Among them was Chetan Gupt, the 2,000,000th Indian visitor, who expressed happiness at participating in this prominent event.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong stated, "This milestone underscores Thailand's growing popularity among Indian travellers. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to explore Thailand's diverse attractions and strengthening our nation's cultural and economic bonds."
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool added, "This achievement reflects the success of TAT's marketing campaigns and collaborations. Through enhanced connectivity and targeted promotions, we aim to position Thailand as the destination of choice for Indian travellers, offering a unique experience and exceptional hospitality."
India is one of Thailand's top tourism markets, and Indian visitors contribute significantly to the country's tourism revenue. With ongoing efforts to improve accessibility, including new flight routes and Thailand's 60-day visa exemption for Indian tourists, the country remains a premier travel destination for Indian travellers.
