International travel is back in full swing throughout the Asia Pacific.
Airlines keep adding new spots to entice travel-hungry passengers. This week, Jetstar Asia opened up a new world of possibilities for Singaporeans by commencing non-stop flights to Broome in the far northwest of Australia.
New International Gateway
Jetstar Asia is now operating a new service between Singapore and Broome, making it the only airline operating flights into regional Western Australia. Broome is an international tourist mecca on the Indian Ocean around 1400 miles north of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Jetstar Asia Chief Operating Officer Geoffrey Lui said the airline was excited to add Broome to its growing network in response to the demand for distinct travel experiences. He said, "We know our customers love to explore, and without low fares, they now add Broome to their list of must-visit destinations. As we enhance to grow, we remain committed to delivering new experiences for our customers while making international travel accessible and affordable". On June 25, Jetstar Asia flight 3K161 departed Singapore Changi Airport at 10:21 and, after a 3:52 hour flight, arrived at Broome International Airport at 14:13. The flight was operated with a 2012 Airbus A#@)-200 registration 9V JSQ and MSN 05390 that departed Broome at 16:15 and landed in Singapore at 19:58.
The news service will operate twice weekly with flights between June 25 and October 26, 2024, coinciding with the region's dry season and recommence in April 2025. Jetstar Asia would operate the Airbus A320 service on Tuesday and Saturday at varied times, providing more choices to passengers at either end of the route.
More choice for passengers
On Tuesdays, 3K161 departs Singapore at 10:00. It arrives in Broome at 14:35, leaving again as flight 3K162 at 15:35 and arriving at Singapore Changi Airport at 20:15 and landing in Broome at 16:45 with return flight 3K168 departing BME at 17:35 and arriving in Singapore at 22:05. Jetstar Asia has a fleet of 10 Airbus A320-200s based at Singapore Changi all configured in a 3-3 one class layout of 180 setas with a 28-inch pitch. The new seasonal service will offer close to 13,000 low-fare seats each year and open up an unserved tourism market in both directions, linking into the connections of the Jetstar network at both destinations.
The new service provides a beautiful way for people living or working in the Northwest region to travel to Asia, Europe, and beyond. Rather than flying to Darwin or Perth, they can travel with Jetstar Asia for seamless connections to the Jetstar or Qantas international networks out of Singapore Changi, saving them hours of travel time. Broome is known for its beautiful beaches, native wildlife, seabirds, dinosaur footprints and whale watching in the Indian Ocean. It is also a gateway to the Kimberly region, an ancient land covering hundreds of thousands of square kilometres and one of the world's most precious wilderness regions.
