At the ongoing Destination Britain Middle Eats and Asia trade mission in Bengaluru, Patricia Yates, CEO of VisitBritain, said they are keen to promote regional Britain beyond London in the Indian market.
She said, "Traditionally, London is very well known and is the jewel in the crown, and we are happy to welcome visitors to London. However, we also want to encourage visitors to explore regional Britain, and part of doing that is working with the travel trade in India. This will allow us to show the available products and help them contract and build itineraries to help them sell efficiently."
Thirty-seven British suppliers, including those from New Castle, Wales, and the Northern Islands, are showcasing the country at the trade show. Yates said, "Most of our exhibitions at this showcase are from outside London. We want to show the experiences and how to design them."
Moreover, the roadshow sees buyers from India, GCC, and North Asia congregate in Bengaluru for this showcase. She said, "We are looking at closing the year with 700,000 Indian visitors, an annual increase of 18%. Alongside the expansion of air access, we see economic stability and immense growth prospects from India."
