IndiGo will start operations on the Delhi-Bangkok route with a Boeing B787-9 widebody aircraft from March 1, 2025. The flight will feature the airline's premium IndiGoStrecth service, providing a more comfortable experience with exclusive meals from Oberoi Catering and Beverages from Sula Vineyards.
IndiGo, India's leading airline, will expand its international network by introducing widebody aircraft on the Delhi-Bangkok route starting March 1, 2025. This marks a prominent step in the airline's ongoing internationalization strategy. To meet the growing demand for air travel, IndiGo has temporarily leased a Boing B787-9 widebody aircraft from Norse Atlantic. This aircraft will operate on the route until IndiGo delivers XLRs in FY2026 and A350s in 2027.
In line with its vision of promoting Indian brands globally, IndiGo will offer its premium IndiGoStrecth product on this route. Customers can look forward to specially curated meals prepared by expert chefs at Oberoi Catering Services, which are aligned with exclusive beverages by Sula Vineyards, an iconic Indian brand. This collaboration signifies IndiGo's continued effort to take the best of India to the world.
Announcing the development, Pieter Elbert, CEO of IndiGo, says, "As India's aviation sector undergoes rapid transformation to keep pace with unprecedented growth in demand for travel, IndiGo is well positioned to lead this expansion. The early induction of our widebody aircraft marks a significant milestone in our journey. Starting between Delhi and Bangkok, we intend to shift to Europe in mid-summer. We are thrilled to introduce the comfort of IndiGoStrecth on our regional international route after receiving positive and encouraging domestic feedback. Our roots and fundamentals are Indian, but increasingly, the world is where we operate. As a proud Indian brand, IndiGo believes in great brands supporting each other globally. In line with our India promise by IndiGo, we are committed to partnering with the best in class Indian brands such as the Oberoi Catering Services Sula and others to extend premium services to IndiGoStrecth customers."
IndiGo's widebody aircraft will feature 56 IndiGoStrecth seats in a comfortable 2x3x2 configuration with a 45-inch seat pitch. The economy class provides 282 seats in a 3x3x3 configuration, ensuring a relaxed experience with a 31-inch sea pitch. In addition, IndiGoStrecth customers will enjoy benefits such as priority check-in, advance seat selection, extra baggage allowance, and complimentary services to enhance their travel.
