Agoda reported a 25 per cent increase in domestic accommodations searches and a 16 per cent rise in outbound searches during the Holi season compared to last year.
The increase in interest is attributed to the long weekend coinciding with the festival of colours, with travellers eager to explore domestic and international destinations. Dubai remains the most searched destination for international travel, followed by famous Southeast Asian cities such as Phuket, Bangkok, Singapore, and Bali.
Domestically, Goa continues to hold the top spot, with Udaipur, New Delhi, Mumbai and Vrindavan rounding out the top five. Vrindavan, known for its profound cultural and spiritual connections to Holi, has seen a notable rise in interest this year, mirroring its unique appeal during the festival season.
Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director for India Subcontinent and MEA at Agoda, said, "Holi, the festival of colour, is one of India's most important festivals. Travellers are eager to celebrate the long weekend in new and exciting ways. With Agoda's great value deals on holiday accommodations and flights, we are committed to making any trips during this festival easy and affordable."
The data also highlight and show a growing trend of combining cultural celebrations with travel as people seek out vibrant festivities like those in Vrindavan or relax at beach destinations like Goa. The increased travel interest in domestic and international locations shows that more Indians are seizing the opportunity to travel during the extended Holi weekend.
