Baps Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi Ticket, Price And More

"A tale of vision, patience, and the power of unity." - This is how we would like to describe the history and vision of the Baps Hindu temples.

The idea of creating a grand Hindu temple in the UAE came to Pramukh Swami Maharaj's mind in 1997. He dreamed of having a dedicated space for worship and cultural gatherings.

However, the journey of the construction took more than two decades. Thediscussion and idea of Baps kept floating amoung various community leaders and the spiritual organization of BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha).

To give you knowledge, BAPs city sees some of the most revered Hindu temples worldwide.

But it wasn't until 2015 that the project truly gained momentum. A moment came when the UAE government generously gifted land for the temple. This was done under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He recognized the importance of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi as a symbol of religious tolerance and inclusivity.

With this vital foundation laid, the work began in earnest. The temple was construction under the guidance of revered BAPS spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj, artisans, architects, and engineers from India and the UAE. The temple was decided to blend traditional Hindu craftsmanship with modern, sustainable practices of the UAE Governmentt. The construction itself was a monumental task which required more than 10 years of effort.

Finally, in 2024, after decades of dedication and collaboration, the BAPS Hindu Mandir opened its doors in Abu Dhabi. The ingratiation was done by India's Prime Minister Modi in February 2024. Just after its opening, more than 1.3 million tourists from nationwide visited the temple.

The temple's design follows Hindu architecture's traditional "Nagar" style. It is a tribute to ancient Indian temple craftsmanship. Constructed with over 1.8 lakh cubic feet of pink sandstone from Rajasthan, 50,000 cubic feet of Italian marble, and 1.8 million bricks, it reaches an impressive 108 feet, with seven distinct "shikhars" (spires) that symbolize each of the UAE's seven emirates.

Each design element reflects meticulous attention to detail and reverence for Hindu culture. Surrounding the temple are beautifully crafted "ghats," or riverbanks, representing India's holy rivers, the Ganga and Yamuna.

Stories of Global Heritage
